Well I finally ran the Sun Run the second largest 10k in North America. The race went relatively well I think I snuck in under 36:00 which will be almost 2:00 minutest off my last 10k. This is not as fast as I would like it to be, but I am not disappointed considering the state of my health and the fact I litterally had zero warm-up before this.
The one thing I am disappointed with is the fact that everyone in my VFAC pace group kicked my ass, which is brutal because generally when we do intervals I can usually beat them, this could be related to my blood issue though my coach said that during anearobic intervals the low Iron/hemoglobin is not an issue but when running a tempo or race which is almost %95+ aerobic the low Iron/hemoglobin is an issue.
The other thing I am finding is I cannot seem to get the burn in these races. When I race up say the Grouse Grind I can bring my HR upto 185-190 and hold it their for 30+ minutes. I cannot seem to get my HR up during these races, I also do not get that burning lung, blood in the mouth feeling I usually get after a hard race, my legs feel really strong but is is almost like I cannot move fast enough to punish myself for 30+ minutes, I think I maybe holding upper gears until to late I may have to kick it up earlier maybe at 7km who knows I will have to experiment. My next road race is on May 8th it is a 8km I will try to push earlier there.
Anyways it was a very fun day we went out for beers at the Yaletown pub, then a friend had a BBQ.
One bad thing happened though I tried to do a pop-a-wheelie on my road bike and flipped over and landed on my ass which is now very sore, will not be a fun day sitting in front of the computer tommorrow.
