Grouse Grind Mountain Run 2005

September 25th, 2005 · No Comments

I raced the Grouse Grind Mountain Run Mountain today. I still think this is one of the most brutal endurance events, basically it is pure pain right out of the gates. The race went well minus the start, they placed to many slow runners in the first wave, many of whom went out to hard at the start so it meant you had to push, claw your way through quite a few runners the first 500m which added some time but that’s all part of this race I guess. Besides that the weather was perfect and the competition was amazing 2 runners beat the previous record, the winner Michael Simpson coming in at 26:26. Mike Simpson is an Elite
tri athlete just coming of a win in the LA triathlon. I ended up finishing with a PB of 32:13 for 14th in the Elite Division so I am happy, still along way from the sub 30 time I wanted… I blame part of this on the fact I pulled a Jan Ulrich eating, drinking too much the last 2 weeks which added a few lbs to the frame.
