This week is the start of my Kneeknacker training. I am still recovering from a cold so it is was a very low mileage week. This time I am taking a different approach to the race. I will do three weekly Long Runs on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. I will also try to race a few more times during the build up to get some race stress in, I plan on doing the Golden Ears 5 Peaks race, The Iron Knee, Seek the Peak and the Lonsdale Mile.
I think with this the fact I dropped 15 pounds since the last time I ran this race and also 2004 only being my second year of running, I will have a very good shot at tearing a huge strip off my 5:32. I believe low 5:00 is doable.
Last weeks training:
Mon: OFF
Tues: 54 minutes Easy
Wed: 1:04
Thur: Bike 1:10 / Run 1:05 (Hilly)
Fri: Bike: 1:10
Sat: 1:16 Hilly
Sunday: Kneeknacker Training Run Grouse->Seymor Highway Return then up the Grouse Grind total time 2:31. I felt very clumsy on this run, first time on the trails in at least 5 months (besides the run upto Clevland Dam a couple months ago). Feels really good be out on the trails again, I really enjoy these runs.
